What's Upper!! It's March and school's been in session for 80 tapes now.
Time for a progress report. Ladies and gentleman we bring to you Mixtape
#81, The Hyphy - Ghetto Report Card Edition, Featuring E-40 and starring KMEL's Big Von and Scotty Fox. That's right, the Hyphy invasion is here. Von
and Scotty school you on E-40 classics from back in the day and new hits
with joints like: "Sprinkle Me", "One Luv", "Rapper's Ball" with Too Short,
and the new smash featuring Keak Da Sneak "Tell Me When To Go". It's not
over yet though. Von and Scotty give us more music from the Bay's next
generation of stars including The Team, The Federation and San Quinn.
The Cornerstone 1200 Squad would also like to salute the life of Jay Dee aka
J Dilla who passed away on February 10th. He was definitely one of hip-hop's
most talented producers and one of the key musicians who innovated the sound
of the neo-soul movement. DJ Excel is back with an amazing set featuring some of J Dilla's most memorable tracks. Also don't forget to peep the
bonus track from Dave Chappelle's Block Party movie featuring The Roots, Big
Daddy Kane & Kool G. Rap. Dave Chappelle's Block Party is in theaters March
3rd and trust us you want to see this film!
Plus the Music Meeting is packed with the usual hot radio playables you need
to have in your mix including new music from: Ice Cube, Ray J, Rhymefest,
The Infamous Mobb Deep, Daddy Yankee f. Lloyd Banks & Young Buck, Penelope
Jones, Cherish, Juvenile and another dope exclusive from new Chappelle's
Block Party movie featuring Dead Prez. The Industry's #1 Mixtape is just getting started in '06 and whether hyphy
or crunk we have all the bases in this culture of Hip-Hop covered. But first
and foremost always remember the DJ is the Cornerstone of Hip-Hop®.
